Bikurim & Shavuot

The days on which Yom HaBikurim (Firstfruits) and Shavuot (Feast of the Fall Harvest, aka "Pentecost") fall are derived from Leviticus 23:9-22, which calls for counting 50 days from a specified Shabbat. This is called "Counting the Omer, and was done differently by the Pharisees and Sadducees circa 1st Century B.C. On today's Rabbinical Jewish Calendar, Shavuot always falls on Sivan 6 because it follows the Pharisean way of counting. Ohev Yisrael and many other Messianic Jewish communities follow the Sadducean way of counting, which places Yom HaBikkurim and Shavuot on different days in different years on the lunar calendar. The dates that follow are the ones on which Ohev Yisrael celebrates Yom HaBikkurim and Shavuot.
